Dear Independent Police Conduct Authority,

I am interested in the number of complaints lodged with the IPCA and the outcome of the complaints. Please provide me with the following:

-The total number of complaints received by the IPCA, broken down by year as far back as records permit.
-The total number of complaints received by the IPCA that were investigated by the IPCA, broken down by year as far back as records permit.
-The total number of complaints received by the IPCA that were investigated by the New Zealand Police, broken down by year as far back as records permit.
-The totals of each type of outcome of complaints, broken down by year (i.e. complaint upheld/not upheld, officer’s actions were justified)

Please provide me with this information in an excel document.

the IPCA is NOT subject to the Official Information Act.

 

The only publicly available information regarding our complaints can be
found at our website – [1]www.ipca.govt.nz – and in our Annual Reports
(also available through the website).  I do recognise that the available
information will not answer your request fully; however it is presented by
us to demonstrate the depth and breadth of the Authority’s work each
year.
