Please provide copies of all MOUs signed in the last five years related to
the sharing of data to organisations outside your organisation.
We have carried out an initial scoping exercise on what your request

the other parties involved.
Can you give us an indication of the areas you are interested in? Is your
interest in agreements with particular sectors? (Government agency to

Department of Internal Affairs
Dear Shane,
Thank you for your email of 17 July 2020 clarifying the scope of your
request to: I am happy to only receive MOU's that relate to the agreement
to share information with other Government Agencies.
This email is to inform you that the Department will extend the time limit
for your request.
The extension will be until the end of 31 August (21 working days from 31
July), but of course if we can, we will provide the information sooner.
The reasons for the extension are the number of MOUs the department has,
requiring substantial collaboration required across the department. We are
also obliged to inform the other parties to the MOUs.
This extension is covered by Section 15(A) and (B) of the Act
15A Extension of time limits
(a) the request is for a large quantity of official information or
necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and meeting
the original time limit would unreasonably interfere with the operations
of the department or the Minister of the Crown or the organisation; or
(b) consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such
that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the
original time limit.
Should you believe that the Department does not have lawful purpose for
seeking this extension you have the right to ask the Office of the
Ombudsman Whakapā mai ki a mātou for a review of our decision. You can
contact their office through their website [1]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz
or freephone 0800 802 602.
Ngā mihi
