Rationale behind Changes to Technology Subjects in Provisional NCEA Level 1 Subject List

Christopher K made this Official Information request to Ministry of Education

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Christopher K to read recent responses and update the status.

From: Christopher K

Dear Ministry of Education,

I request under the Official Information Act (1982) all correspondence (including emails, memos, file notes, briefings, reports, meeting notes, SMS messages, letters, and all other forms of correspondence) between the Minister of Education, the Chief Executive and Secretary for Education, and the Senior Manager Secondary Tertiary Group (including those acting in these roles) from 23/03/2018 to the date this request is acknowledged concerning the following:

a) The rationale to not include a generic “Technology” subject in the Provisional NCEA Level 1 Subject List

b) The rationale to include the new subject “Food Science” in the Technology learning area in place of the current Processing Technologies and Home Economics subjects in the Provisional NCEA Level 1 Subject List

This request is time-sensitive due to the impending closure of consultation on the Provisional NCEA Level 1 Subject List. I therefore ask that this request be treated as urgent under Section 12 (3) of the Official Information Act.

If you require additional assistance with understanding my request please do not hesitate to contact me (details included below).

Yours faithfully,

Chris Kennedy
On behalf of TENZ Council www.tenz.org.nz
