From: Ministerial and OIA Enquiries
Ministry for Culture and Heritage
Môrena Blaize,
Following consultation within the Ministry I can advise the following
information pertaining to your request –
The Ministry for Culture and Heritage would only be able to consider the
amount spent on War Memorials for WW1 or Memorials including WW1, and the
amount spent on the WW100 commemorations, such as those which are at
Pukeahu National War Memorial Park, and services associated with them.
However the other information you are seeking is likely to be held by
other agencies/departments. For example, the Department of Internal
Affairs is likely to hold information on the cost of the national Anzac
Day services. The New Zealand Defence Force would be likely to hold
information services in Gallipoli and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and
Trade would likely hold information on the cost of Anzac Day in other
overseas locations.
I note that you have also sent a request to the Ministry of Defence for
similar information. You may also wish to contact local councils as they
have responsibility for the maintenance of war memorials within their
boundaries, as well as local commemoration services
Please advise if you are happy with this clarification on what information
the Ministry for Culture and Heritage can provide you in relation to your
request.
Ngâ mihi,
