Dear Radio New Zealand Limited,
As you will be aware SMS txt messages are records under the Public Records Act 2005 and also come under the Official information Act. To quote Archives NZ "If an organisation uses text messaging ...these communications are considered records under the Public Records Act 2005. As such, they must be managed accordingly."

I request all SMS txt messages sent and received from the following individuals relating to RNZ Concert and/or the establishment of a new RNZ youth radio station.
My request is for those messages sent or received from Monday 3 February to Wednesday 11 February 2020 (inclusive), from or to the following individuals in their RNZ capacity (e.g. employee, board member)
Paul Thompson - Chief Executive
Willy Macalister - Head of Music
Jim Mather - Chair, Board of Governors
Bill Francis - Board of Governors
For each SMS txt please include the full message, and meta data: the name of the person whose phone the message was sourced from, the sent/received date and time, the last four digits of the phone number the message originated from and the last four digits of the phone number the message was sent to.
Yours faithfully,

Good afternoon Gareth
Your formal OIA request has been received by Radio New Zealand. Under the Official Information Act 1982, we have 20 working days in which to respond to you and I expect we will have our reply posted/emailed to your address within that time. If for some reason, such as leave commitments or sickness, we are unable to respond to you within 20 working days, there is a further provision for an extension of time and I will write to you again if it becomes necessary to extend the time taken.
Yours sincerely,
Maggie Hedge | Assistant Inquiries Coordinator

Dear RNZ,
I am just wondering if there will be a response to my OIA request? There appears to be a partial release of txt messages (heavily redacted) between Willy and Paul on your website (https://www.rnz.co.nz/assets/cms_uploads...) , but my request was for all messages received and sent by the individuals mentioned in my OIA request.
Yours sincerely,
Gareth Watkins
