Metlink GTFS outages

Dave Moskovitz made this Official Information request to Wellington Regional Council

The request was successful.

From: Dave Moskovitz

Dear Wellington Regional Council,

Metlink's GTFS (General Transit Feed Specification) data feed seems to have been down from 26 January through the morning of 29 January 2020.

I have several questions:
(1) How long was the outage?
(2) Was the outage scheduled?
(3) If it was scheduled, were the public notified anywhere of the expected time and duration of the outage?
(4) How many scheduled and unscheduled outages have there been over the last year, and of what duration?
(5) is there an expected level of service for the GTFS service, and if so, what is it?

Yours faithfully,
Dave Moskovitz

Dear Daniela and Greg,

Thank you for all of the information you provided, it's much appreciated, and clarifies the situation. We look forward to the day when you implement an API with robust support so that the third-party apps that depend on your open data can function properly. I'd encourage you to set service level targets, as well as a notification mechanism for people and organisations dependent on the data to get outage updates in real time. I'd be happy to talk to you about this in person if you're interested - you can contact me on [email address]

Yours sincerely,

Dave Moskovitz
