Access to Belmont Park from Cannons Creek and Waitangirua

Brian Warburton made this Official Information request to Wellington Regional Council

The request was partially successful.

From: Brian Warburton

Dear Wellington Regional Council,

Please provide information that will allow me to understand how the part of Belmont Regional Park on the western side of the Transmission Gully Motorway is able to be accessed by the public from the part of Belmont Regional Park on the eastern side of the Transmission Gully Motorway, and vice versa.

Or in other words, how is the western part of the Park connected to the eastern part, if at all.

GWRC's online maps are not clear about this.

If there is a requirement under the RM Act, or other mechanism, upon NZTA to provide linkages across, over or under the Transmission Gully Motorway, please provide me with sufficient detail so I can understand what is required, by whom and when.

Yours faithfully,

Brian Warburton

My request said:

"If there is a requirement under the RM Act, or other mechanism, upon NZTA to provide linkages across, over or under the Transmission Gully Motorway, please provide me with sufficient detail so I can understand what is required, by whom and when."

GWRC has not replied to this aspect of my request.

I will complain to the Ombudsman if GWRC does not adhere to the spirit of the LGOIMA.

Also, please provide maps with legible annotations. A thick black felt pen is not sufficient in this context.

Yours sincerely,

Dear Sharon Hornal,

I have today sent this following text to Greg Campbell.

Hello Greg

Thanks for getting onto my follow up request.

I’m pleased to have been now provided with extracts from the NZTA/MOU.

I’m surprised that the lack of a ‘Park Access’ plan is excused on the basis of: “There are no available TGM maps showing final reconnection alignments – they will become available when earthworks are completed and more detailed planning can commence.”

Surely the TMG project has reached a stage when the scale and location of the roading and associated earthworks is now well known.

If this is not the case, can you please ask you staff to advise me when the “TGM maps showing final reconnection alignments” are expected to be available.

I see that GWRC has not loaded this additional material onto the fyi.org website. Can that please be addressed.

Regards

Brian Warburton
