Morning Nic,

Thank you for your request as follows:

Are you able to supply evidence of working alongside artists (co-designing) in determining the shift in funding deadlines from 5pm to 1pm.

Creative New Zealand does not hold any evidence of working alongside artists (co-designing) in determining the shift in funding deadlines from 5pm to 1pm.

The key reasons behind this change of time are:

· If an artist is still working on an application on the closing date, the relevant staff will be more readily available to help if assistance is needed before the funding round closing time. It is common for applicants to contact Creative New Zealand staff for assistance prior to submitting their applications and while Creative New Zealand staff were working after 5pm they were not always able to assist some applicants.

· Creative New Zealand staff are able to respond in a timely manner to issues or questions that arise after the funding round closes instead of waiting until after the weekend (with closing dates being on a Friday).

The change was based on feedback we have received from applicants.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this response. Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.

If you would like to discuss this response, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Noho haumaru mai rā.

Yours faithfully,

Pip
