Moana Pool draining statistics for 2012 and 2013

Nicolas Bosma made this Official Information request to Dunedin City Council

The request was successful.

From: Nicolas Bosma

Dear Dunedin City Council,

How many times in 2012 -- and thus far in 2013 -- has a swimming pool at the Moana Pool facility been drained and refilled in response to rapidly arising circumstances which necessitated such action?

For example, because of a blood spill or other such accident.

Yours faithfully,
Nicolas Bosma

Dear Nicolas

I refer to your request for information, received by the Council on 4
October 2013,  relating to the draining of Moana Pool.  Your request has
been considered under the Local Government Official Information and
Meetings Act 1987 and I provide the following response.

The water in Moana Pool is continually being recycled and treated with
chemicals, therefore, if there is any incident the pool is not required to
be emptied.  The pool is closed for approximately 3 hours to allow a
complete renewal of water before allowing users back in.

If you have any questions relating to this please contact the Aquatic
Services Manager.
