History of the Lake Ohia Maori School

Vicki Stevens made this Official Information request to Ministry of Education

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Vicki Stevens to read a recent response and update the status.

From: Vicki Stevens

Dear Ministry of Education,

I am a member of the Lake Ohia Community Hall Interim Committee situated in the Far North of New Zealand, just 10 minutes north of Taipa. We are attempting to build a history of our Community Hall.

We know that the hall was previously the Lake Ohia Maori School. We also know that the Education Department handed ownership to the Mangonui County Council in aproximetly 1964. Can we please have copies of any documents relating to the change in ownership status.

The Lake Ohia Maori School was previously at a nearby site. We are hoping to get any information on the building that was orginally there and the date of moving.

We also know that the land the hall is currently sitting on was gifted by a local family (the Jurlina's). We are after any documentation surrounding this gift.

We also know that the hall was moved onto the site and therefore had a history somewhere else. We would love to get hold of any documents around the building.

Can we please have copies of any documents, letters, correspondence or photos relating to the Lake Ohia Community Hall AKA the Lake Ohia Maori School.

Yours faithfully,

Vicki Stevens
