Dear New Zealand Police,
Can you please provide the following information with regards to the recent firearms confiscation buyback event at Riccarton, Christchurch 13-14/7/2019,
1. The media and police reports vary greatly in the numbers handed in. Please provide an accurate figure of the number of fire arms and accessories
2. With regard to the firearms, please provide a list of fire arms handed in, including
Brand (e.g. Norinco)
Model (e.g. JW20)
Type of action (e.g. lever action, pump action)
calibre (eg 22LR)
Magazine capacity and type where known (eg 15 round tube magazine)
3 with regards to the accessories, please provide a list of the accessories handed in and their details including where known:
Brand or model of fire arm (eg AR15 type)
type (eg trigger)
4. Please provide this information for any other fire arms handed in to police directly as part of the buyback scheme
5. this request will also apply to other events as well as the one stated above. Please provide this information for any other events or surrendered items up until the information is released.
As this information is provided as part of the compensation form, I expect that it will be a simple matter to provide this information for this event and all others yet to happen and there is no reason for the police to say that the information is not available or to delay it's release. .

It is now past 40 working days since this OIA request. Of all the departments, I would have though the Police would follow the law.
If you have trouble running a 5 minute sort in Excel or a database search, let me know and i can help. You have the information, you used it to pay out the money for the guns confiscated to date - how hard can it be?
