Kia ora Sarah-Louise

Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA),
received by Police on 5 August 2025. You asked:

 1. Could you please provide a copy of your current org chart with all
your Commissioned Officer roles and the equivalent non-sworn band,
including the names of the people in those roles.

 2. Could you please also advise what the current sworn and non-sworn RAT
is for each police district.

Police advises that the first part of your request is for a very large
volume of information. While Police’s organisational chart is readily
available for internal Police use, there are approximately 17,000 staff
listed in the chart whose names and roles would need to be assessed
individually for release under the OIA, and this would likely have a
significant and unreasonable impact on Police’s ability to carry out its
other operations. Therefore, as your request currently stands, Police is
likely to refuse your request under section 18(f) of the OIA, as the
information requested cannot be made available without substantial
collation or research.

In accordance with section 18B of the OIA, Police invites you to refine
your request to enable Police to work within a more manageable scope.

Please respond by 3pm 19 August 2025 so that we can consider
your refinement in our response to your request.

We look forward to receiving your response.

Ngâ mihi

From: Sarah-Louise

Dear Ministerial Services,

I am happy to refine my request to a more manageable size.

Would it work to provide an org chart showing:
- For PNHQ and specialist units: the names and titles of all roles at or above the level of Inspector
- For Districts: the name and rank of the District Commander and Area Commanders
- For Corporate Groups (e.g. Finance, IT etc) - the name and title of the person heading that group, and the titles of the roles that directly report to them.

Yours sincerely,

Sarah-Louise
