Dear Sam

Attached as requested is a list of the all positions (job titles) directly employed by the Council, and the number of staff in each of those roles.

With regard to your request re amalgamation proposals:

In 2003 the Timaru, Mackenzie and Waimate District Councils commissioned "A Review of Regional Council Functions in South Canterbury " from Polson Higgs & Co and Simpson Grierson.

In 2007 a consortium of the Mackenzie, Timaru, Waimate, Waitaki and Ashburton District Councils began examining the viability of creating a separate Regional Council for the Central South Island.
Morrison & Low and Associates was commissioned to provide a proposal for "Assistance with the Creation of a Central South Island Regional Council ", a "Project Plan for the Community of interest Study, Non Financial Factors and Associated information" for a proposed Central South Island Regional Council and a "Business Case for the Development of a Central South Island Regional Council".

The project was not furthered.

The scope of the above information in our files is extensive, could take considerable time to collate and be costly to provide.

Please let us know if you require any further information.

Kind regards
Rosemary
