Savings from prescription charge increase
Alex Harris made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health
The request was refused by Ministry of Health.
From: Alex Harris
Dear Ministry of Health,
Yesterday the government announced that it was increasing prescription charges from $3 to$5 per item. The government's press release ("Budget 2012: Prescription Charges Help Fund Health", 14 May 2012) said that this would rsult in savings of $20 million in the first year, and $40 million in the following year. I would like to request the following information under the Official Information Act 1982:
* all information relating to the cost savings for this policy. I'm particularly interested in seeing how these savings were calculated and what they are composed of (i.e. $X in higher revenue, $Y in lower prescption uptake).
I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the fyi.org.nz website.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Harris
