The request was successful.
      From: Alex Harris

    Dear New Zealand Police,
Section 59 of the Search and Surveillance Act 2012 requires an agency which has been granted a surveillance warrant to file a report to the issuing judge (or court) within a month of the conclusion of the warrant. Section 59(2) requires that the report contain certain information. I would like to request the following information under the OIA:
* For the last ten s59 reports filed by police:
  - the number of them where carrying out the activities authorised by the surveillance device warrant resulted in obtaining evidential material;
 - the number of them where the evidential material obtained as a result of carrying out the activities authorised by the warrant was evidential material specified in the warrant in accordance with section 55(3)(e);
- the number of them where criminal proceedings have been brought or are under consideration as a result of evidential material obtained under the warrant;
I am not interested in any details of the warrants themselves, their subjects, the crimes they were issued for or any charges filed. I am seeking only statistical information on the success or otherwise of those warrants.
I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about
this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the
fyi.org.nz website.
With regards to s12 of the OIA, I am an NZ citizen and in NZ.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Harris
