Parcel Delayed, or "Awaiting Customs Clearance" Messages

Customs does not physically store or deliver parcels. If you have an
enquiry about a Customs matter, example duty charges,  in relation to your
item, we will require a Customs Reference number to locate the details
which you should have been advised of by your carrier example NZ Post, we
can be contacted on 0800 428 786.

If you are expecting a parcel or package, you will need a parcel tracking
number and you should contact the company bringing the item to New
Zealand. For mail articles other than Australian Post, (EMS or USPS)
please contact NZ Post on 0800 478 287 (option 2).

Please note if you have tracked your parcel and the message indicates a
Customs delay this does not mean that customs are holding your package but
that your carrier (e.g NZ Post) has yet to arrange clearance and you need
to contact that specific carrier to arrange the clearance.

Good afternoon Mr Williams

I am about to process your request for information in regard to postal
packages and would like to advise the following.

We can provide an answer to request #1.

In regard to requests 2 & 3 we can only supply the number where an import
entry has been created in which case it won't be the same number as
request #1.

We should be able to retrieve country of export and "electronics" details
from the entry. Electronics will be all goods classified under Chapter 85
of the Customs Tariff.

In addition, where the goods have been cleared on a PID (Private Import
Declaration) entry, these will not be included in our response. A PID
entry is used when the declared value of the goods is under $1000.00.

Section 15 of the Official Information Act 1982 provides for charges to be
levied for providing information. The charge is $38.00 (GST Incl.) per ½
hr after the first hour.  The section also provides for the whole or part
of any charge to be paid in advance.

Would you please advise if you wish to be provided with the information as
advised above. When I know exactly what you want I will be able to advise
you on the amount of the charge.

Regards
