Dear Mike Gendall

On 3 September 2012 you sought information, under the Official Information
Act, on how many requests to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade
under the Official Information Act are currently subject to Ombudsman
complaint, together with details of the original requests and the age of
the complaint.

The answer is that there are two Official Information Act requests to the
Ministry which are currently the subject of Ombudsman complaint.

These are:

(1)    Request from Ms Hinemoa Puriri-Komarnicki seeking information
relating to the intervention of two diplomats from the New Zealand Embassy
in Cairo in the matter of Ms Mihi Puriri and her children detained in
Algeria.  The Office of the Ombudsman wrote to the Ministry on 16 August
2012 concerning this complaint.

(2)    Request from Hon Phil Goff for a list of titles of all Cabinet
papers and Cabinet Committee papers submitted by the Minister of Foreign
Affairs and the Minister of Trade from December 2008 to 19 January 2012.
This complaint was received from the Office of the Ombudsman on 30 August
2012.

Yours sincerely,

Neil Robertson
