* any messages that have been sent to foreign embassies or consulates in New Zealand with regard to the Kīngitanga (or Māori King) movement. I am particularly interested in any messages sent to the Spanish embassy.

The deadline for responding to my Official Information Act request expired on the 23rd of October, and I have not yet received a response. Can I please receive an update on the status of my request, or will I have to go to the Ombudsmen?

It would be a total waste of the Ombudsman's time to make any approach to the Office of the Ombudsman.
The fact is that this Ministry has no record whatever - and we have checked our digital records - of receiving any request from you concerning the Kingitanga Movement.
The only Official Information Act request received from you this year was an enquiry on 25 July 2012 about the date of the PRC's admission to the United Nations. This was answered on 1 August 2012.
We would suggest that you resubmit your Kingitanga request.

There must have been a glitch in the system somewhere then. Apologies: I presumed delay rather than nonreceipt.

Dear Joshua Grainger
Thank you for your email of 8 November 2012 in which you requested, under
the Official Information Act, information about any messages that have
been sent to foreign embassies or consulates in New Zealand with regard to
the Kîngitanga (or Mâori King) movement. You mentioned that you were
particularly interested in any messages sent to the Spanish Embassy.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Protocol Division is the
conduit for communication between the diplomatic and consular corps and
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In response to your questions,
there have been no messages sent to the diplomatic and consular corps on
the Kîngitanga movement, including the Spanish Embassy.
