Chemical Weapons Convention Declarations
Alex Harris made this Official Information request to Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade
The request was successful.
From: Alex Harris
Dear Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade,
New Zealand is a party to the Chemical Weapons Convention. Upon becoming a party to the Convention in 1997, it was required to submit an initial declaration of chemical weapons stocks, production facilities, and riot control agents held. In addition, according to OPCW's 2009 annual report, between 2005 and 2008, New Zealand annually submitted reports to OPCW under paragraph 4, Article X, detailing national protective programmes. I would like to request the following information under the Official Information Act 1982:
* New Zealand's initial declaration on becomign a party to the Chemical weapons Convention
* Any reports submitted to OPCW under paragraph 4, article X of the CWC
* whether New Zealand has exercised its right under paragraph 2, Article III CWC to not apply the CWC to chemical weapons buried before 1977 or dumped at sea before 1985.
I would prefer to receive an electronic response. Queries about this request will be automatically forwarded to me by the fyi.org.nz website.
With regards to s12 of the OIA, I am an NZ citizen and in NZ.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Harris
