Dear AT Official Information (AT),
Thanks for your email. Before I make a decision on the way forward, I would like you to clarifythe statement that it might take up to 80 hours.
Surely the system is automated in the sense that there is a computer or two involved. The SCATS manager was quite proud of the system's operational and computational competency, but the email suggests are someone is flicking an abacus. Sorry, not the best analogy!
Wouldn't such reports be generated by entering search parameters and clicking on a screen? I provided an example of the data that I was after so the parameters are there already.
Can you please elaborate what it is in my request that is requiring the lengthy manual nature of work up to 80 hours .
Yours sincerely,
Adam Parkinson

Kia Ora Mr Parkinson
I hope you are well and I am sorry for the delay in responding to you.
We have now managed to obtain clarification regarding your query. The
Business Unit has been explained that there are 900 signalised
intersections across Auckland. In order to obtain the information the team
has to manually extract the time setting from the design sheet and collate
it into a spreadsheet for each intersection. Hence conservatively allowed
10 minutes per intersection equates to 150 hours. As we have quoted 80
hours previously we will honour this should you want to pay for this
information.
If you refine your request to six intersections (and outline which
instersections) it would be popssible for us to provide this information
without charge.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards

Dear AT Official Information (AT),
Ah I see the problem.
I only want data relating to the City centre intersections/signalised crossings, not all of Auckland.
(That would indeed be a big ask!)
Just for clarity, the City centre is that area within the motorway ring. I have a feeling there is something in the order of 50 such intersections, maybe.
Please let me know if that makes a difference.
Yours sincerely,
Adam Parkinson

Kia Ora Mr Parkinson
Further to our earlier conversation I have obtained some more information.
There are 100 signalised intersections in the city centre and it will take
ten minutes to obtain information for each intersection. Therefore it will
take approximately 16 hours to collate the information you have requested.
As you are aware Auckland Transport provides the first five hours for free
and $38 for each half an hour after. Therefore the amount payable for this
information is: $418.00.
Any unused component of the maximum charge will be refunded to you. Before
we proceed further with your request, please confirm your agreement to the
charge.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at

If you wish to discuss this decision, please feel free to contact us. We
will be able to assist you should you wish to change or refine your

Dear Adam
The Walk time column is the time the green man is on, the clearance time 1 and 2 added together is the total time of the flashing red man followed by the Clearance time 3 which is the steady red man on. Total pedestrian crossing phase is therefore 31s for crossing 1 at Fanshawe / Halsey, 6s + 20s + 3s + 2s = 31s.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if your require anything further.
