Payment to Cr Whiley
Karen Anderson made this Official Information request to Dunedin City Council
The request was partially successful.
From: Karen Anderson
Dear Dunedin City Council,
My preference is to receive the requested information by email.
A meeting for the Dog Control Bylaw Working Party was arranged for 12 December 2018 by Cr Whiley. After attendees arrived Cr Whiley departed and held no meeting at all.
By email 13 December 2018 to the DCC in-house legal Counsel I asked for confirmation Cr Whiley would not be paid for this meeting. The request was ignored in her subsequent communications.
Accordingly I have been requested by members of the Dunedin Dog Bylaw Group to ask whether Cr Whiley has been, or will be, paid for attending that meeting.
Note that as this information was first requested on 13 December 2018 the latest date to comply with your obligations concerning the request for this information is 1 February 2019. You will appreciate our generosity in making a second request given we are not required to do so.
Yours faithfully,
Karen Anderson

DCC eventually provided the following response as part of an 8-page document emailed 8 March 2019.
(Note the Agency prints documents as images which prevents searching or copy/pasting, and do not include an index or bookmarks. It is possible to OCR, but combining multiple requests into one large pdf then printing it as an image seems to defeat the purpose of fyi and the usefulness of paperless documents. )
Response was:
Other than Resource Consent Hearings, Councillors do not get paid a meeting allowance.
As such, Cr Whiley has not been paid for attending the meeting on 12 December 2018.

Note this request was first made by email on 13 December 2018. It was ignored so the FYI service has been used to make the request public and act as a reminder the request remains outstanding. However that means the latest date the information can be provided is 1 February 2019 - slightly earlier than the date automatically generated by FYI.
