OIA response extended in the last business hour of the 20th working day. Such coincidence.

Dear CLM Ministerial Services,

Thank you for your response.

You have now confirmed that the requested information will be provided.

What you have omitted to state is WHEN the information will be provided. Please advise the date when this information will be provided.

I must say that so far the impression I get is that the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment does not take the Offical Information Act section 15 requirement to answer information requests as soon as practicable very seriously given it took 40 working days to merely confirm the request will be met.

That there is now a further delay because of the need to assemble the information strongly suggests that Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment is also failing to meet its duties under section 17 of the Public Records Act to maintain its records in accessible form.

Yours sincerely,

Andrew Riddell

Have now complained to the Ombudsman about the delay in providing the requested information.

It is distressing that so many of my informaton requests end up with complaints to the Ombudsman because ministers, government departments and local authorities do not take their legal responsibilities re information seriously.
