URGENT: Possible Pre-release of June 2018 quarter GDP Data

Matthew Hooton made this Official Information request to Statistics New Zealand

The request was successful.

From: Matthew Hooton

Dear Statistics New Zealand,

Under the OIA, I request information on all communications to any party outside Statistics NZ relating to the management and content of the June 2018 quarter GDP Data release, scheduled for Thursday 20 September, that has occurred up to 11.30 am Tuesday 18 September.

You will be aware that suggestions the Prime Minister has received an early "hint" of this data and her public comments have affected the value of the New Zealand dollar. (See https://www.nzherald.co.nz/business/news... ).

I therefore ask that you respond to this request with the utmost urgency and make the reply publicly available through fyi.org.nz rather than to me or anyone else individually.

Yours faithfully,

Matthew Hooton
