This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Stuart MacDonald to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Stuart MacDonald
Dear New Zealand Police,
I am writing as a New Zealand resident and wish to know the following:
- The number drivers fined/prosecuted for use of a mobile phone, 2016, 2017 and 2018 to date.
- The number of drivers reported (but not fined/prosecuted) for use of a mobile phone, 2016, 2017 and 2018 to date.
- The number of drivers reported for use of a distracting device, 2016, 2017 and 2018 to date (including but not limited to, books, newspapers, laptops, tablet devices.)
- The total number of road collisions reported, 2016, 2017 and 2018 to date
- the total number of collisions attributable to mobile phone use whilst driving, 2016, 2017, 2018 to date.
The number of drivers that I personally see on our roads using mobile devices whilst driving is reaching an epidemic level and these requests should hopefully shed some light on the action or inactions of current road policing in regards to their use.
Yours faithfully,
Stuart MacDonald
