Dear KiwiRail,
Hi I would like to discuss about the Dc's withdrawals by the year 2020 and 2021, we know they're set to be replaced by global suppliers, but I have been thinking about when withdrawals commence,
Its been on my mind that one Dc class locomotive that's still in service in the South Island, Dc 4012 former Dc 1552 originally Da 1532 is the most famous of the March 1978 protoypes along wth Dc 4006 former 1551 and originally Da 1525, now when that loco got scrapped after the derailment in Westmere Bank and at the time it was uniconomic to repair by that time and was scrapped about 2002 which did not survive to live to see the future, I have been thinking that is I think Dc 4012 is the best candidate for possible heritage preservation because notably she is the last of the March 1978 protoypes left and also it was mostly famous for appearing in the Railfrieght television commercial as originally Dc 1552, I have been thinking that 4012 is the best to be preserved for the future by all means not that its also in good condition but it's got good history to it and that it should be preserved in it's own rights. and it should also be donated to The New Zealand Railway and Locomotive Society and be based somewhere in New Zealand.
You know they're has been roumers in Railfan Magazine why would someone want to save Dc 4876 it isn't in good condition for preservation and why the only good Dc's avaliable for the NRM is one of the Dc's in the original 1551 to 1599 series and it has to be in the goodest condition yet. however I think the NRM would have to have one Dc in the old 1551 and 1599 now as 4006 and 4536 series, so I think it's best that one for a 40 series they're will be a doubt weather it can be 4012, or 4035 'Jo' (but its on write off list), 4041, 4058, and 4093 (which is on write off list), I think one of them needs to be preserved however 4029 and 4070 cannot be preserved as they're owned by Progress Rail for harvesting, I also don't believe the July Railfan Magazine it's all just made up about 4876, whoever wrote that is not telling full confirmational truth so I think it's better one of the 40 series is saved from the 4006 and 4093 series, but execpt 4029 and 4070 not to be added, so one of the 40 series can only be saved, weather it is 4012, 4035, or 4041 or 4058 or 4093 on the list, but that's your choice to make.
The future still remains in limbo for what will happen to other Dc's such as
*4110
*4156
*4283
*4317
*4438
*4473
*4565
*4571
*4611
*4847
*4876
*4916
*4939
As they're not on the write offs what will happen to these locomotives and what's to become of them both?
I know your a company for buisness but I am suggesting a Dc that would be perfect choice since I am saying that it would be grand to have one of the first series 40 TMS numbers because we cannot loose history and nore can it be forgotten, so one of the TMS 40 series must survive, I am a huge fan of the Dc class, I also know many railfans in Magazines like Railfan want to also see Dc's preserved these days that is but my hope is firstly one of the Dc's with original 1551 and 1599 now as 4006 and 4536 series can be saved so if in preservation they can repaint or renumber back to it's old 15xx series, and a few with 4542 and 4876 series survive but either one of them and one Hutt Built 49er should survive, but that's something in the future all of us have to wait and see and most of all we all have to wait what the future holds for the both of us. and they're are many fans who may love these engines but weather ones I listed like 4110, 4156, 4283, 4317, 4565, 4571, 4611, 4634, or 4916 or 4939 can be donated to preservation is in limbo for them stored at Hutt we don't know their status so what is their status's?
Yours faithfully,
Maurice812
