Number of complaints resulting in settlements and non-disclosure.

Susan Bates made this Official Information request to Ministry of Education

The request was refused by Ministry of Education.

From: Susan Bates

Dear Ministry of Education,

I would like to know how many settlements have been reached by the Ministry of Education with members of the public (including teachers) as a result of complaints made, how much reparation has been paid, and how many have included non-disclosure agreements preventing discussion of details. I would like to have data on this for each year from 2007 to 2017.

Yours faithfully,

Susan Bates

Dear Susan

Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act (the Act).

Your information request as it currently stands is broad in scope and which would require substantial research.

As the information cannot be obtained without a significant amount of collation and research, your request as it stands would likely be declined under section 18(f) of the Act.

Before making a decision on your request, I would like to invite you to consider refining the scope. For example, please advise whether there is a particular area you are interested in, i.e. complaints about teachers, historic claims.

To refine your request please email [email address].

Kind regards.
