What Middle East Ops Valued at $18.176m Ended in 2017/18 as per #Budget2018

Simon Ewing-Jarvie made this Official Information request to Ron Mark

The request was successful.

From: Simon Ewing-Jarvie

Dear Ron Mark,
What Middle East operations were successfully completed in 2017/18 relating to NZDF's support, through the provision of training, security, engineering, and supervision, for United Nations and Multi-national force operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and across the Middle East? I refer to the "Reasons for Change in Appropriation" provided on Page 35 of Vote Defence Force in the Estimates of Appropriations 2018/2019 which provides this as the reason for decreased funding of $18.176 million under the Departmental Output Expense "Military Operations in Support of a Rules-Based International"

This request is made under the Official Information Act 1982. I am a New Zealand citizen.

Yours faithfully,

Simon Ewing-Jarvie

I have written a follow-up article using the information gleaned from this OIA request. It relates specifically to the mandate for the NZ troops in the Multinational Force and Observers in Sinai, Egypt and can be found here https://unclas.com/2018/07/23/justin-and...

Following the publication of my article, It is understood that Cabinet agreed to a 2 month extension (to 30 Sep 2018) to the MFO mandate which you can read here https://www.newsroom.co.nz/2018/07/23/16...
Thanks again fyi.org.nz
