The OIA has a response. In the processing of this response, FENZ determined that there was too much information to provide, and so they decided to provide a summary. The initial request was for a copy of all communications. The summary provided was four pages justifying their current licensing stance, and a one and a half page table containing a very high level summary.
Key points include:
* Between 2014 and 2016, detailed assessments by the NZFS determined that CC-BY licence was likely to be inappropriate.
* NZFS performed detailed assessments and determined it did not have the resources to give NZ Localities "Fundamental Dataset" status, even though it may be appropriate to do so.
* NZFS performed detailed assessments and determined it did not have the resources to become the Official Custodian of the NZ Localities dataset, even though it was a desirable step to maintain the integrity of the data.
A follow-up OIA will be sent requesting the assessments, and communication lists.
