Dear Inland Revenue Department,
Can you please supply documents showing calculation methodology used in setting the mileage rate for expenditure incurred for the business use of a motor vehicle. Information for the 2017-18 year is sought both for internal combustion engine vehicles, and electric vehicles.
I assume the calculation will include assumptions on purchase price, depreciation rate, maintainence costs, annual average mileage, fuel/electricity costs, and possibly other factors. Please provide documents that are sufficiently detailed so that it is possible to see what these assumptions are, and where the numbers were sourced from.
