Hit and Run on Cyclist
Kirsten Watkins made this Official Information request to New Zealand Transport Agency
New Zealand Transport Agency did not have the information requested.
From: Kirsten Watkins
Dear New Zealand Transport Agency,
I was involved in a hit and run this morning, 11th August 2017, at approximately 0540. I was cycling up Great South Road between Rockfield Road and Campbell Road towards Greenlane when I was hit by a car from behind and knocked to the ground. The car did not stop. As it happened very quickly and from behind I was unable to obtain a license plate number. There was very little traffic around at this time. It may have been a white sedan.
Do you have any CCTV footage covering this area around this time and on this date.
Yours faithfully,
Kirsten Watkins

New Zealand Transport Agency
Hello Kirsten
Thank you for contacting NZ Transport Agency requesting CCTV footage at
Great North Road near the intersection of Campbell Road on 11 August
2017, at 5:40 am.
Firstly, we are very sorry to hear of your accident. The purpose of the
CCTV surveillance is to better manage the road network, not as a primary
security tool. Therefore the incident you have mentioned may not have been
recorded. Where footage of a specific incident or alleged crime is
available, Auckland Transport provides footage to New Zealand Police upon
receipt of a request from them.
Notwithstanding the above, in this instance a review of the footage
reveals that we do not hold any recording of the specific incident. Your
request is therefore declined under Section 17(e) of the LGOIMA as the
information you are requesting does not exist.
We trust this information has addressed the matters raised however you
have the right in accordance with section 27(3) of the Local Government
Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 (LGOIMA) to make a complaint to
the Office of the Ombudsman if you are not satisfied with our response.
