David Lawson made this Official Information request to Accident Compensation Corporation

The request was successful.

From: David Lawson

Dear Accident Compensation Corporation,

I refer you to the ICD-10 Diagnostic Codes: for the following injuries;

2017 ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Code S77.11XA Crushing injury of right thigh,
2017 ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Code S77.01XA Crushing injury of right hip
2017 ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Code S38.1XXS Crushing injury of abdomen, lower back, and pelvis, sequela

OIA Request 1:

I respectfully request your assistance in confirming the corresponding equivalent Diagnostic Read Code that applies to the ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Code S77.11XA
Crushing injury of right thigh, that ACC accepts from treatment providers.

OIA Request 2;

I respectfully request your assistance in confirming the corresponding equivalent Diagnostic Read Code that applies to the 2017 ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Code S77.01XA Crushing injury of right hip, that ACC accepts from treatment providers.

OIA Request 3;

I respectfully request your assistance in confirming the corresponding equivalent Diagnostic Read Code that applies to the 2017 ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Code S38.1XXS Crushing injury of abdomen, lower back, and pelvis, sequela, that ACC accepts from treatment providers.

OIA Request 4;

Please also advise if there are Read Codes (and if so what each of the Read Codes are) that apply specifically to crushing injuries of the buttock and pelvis, or whether these areas of the body when crushed are accepted for cover acceptance by ACC under either hip and or grouped with pelvis, abdomen and lower back.

I have checked through the 606 pages of the full Read Codes that the Corporation kindly provided via www.FYI.org.nz, but with there being over 33,000 codes in total spread over 606 pages, I have been unable to locate the specific Read Codes that apply to a person whom has suffered a crushing injuries to their right thigh, hip, pelvis and buttocks. I have also reviewed the physiotherapy read codes to no avail.

I appreciate your time and assistance and respectfully request that my request be responded to under urgency within the next 10 working days, being by the end of business close on 4th August 2017, with my reason being so that I can formally lodge pursuant to Section 48 (a), (b) and (c ) of the ACC Act 2001 claims for cover and entitlements for a number of classes of injuries sustained, and so as allow me to access the correct assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for these injuries.

Yours faithfully,

David Lawson

Dear Mr Lawson

Thank you for your email dated 24 July 2017, copied below, requesting
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act).

ACC is working on your request and will be in touch with you as soon as
possible, and certainly by 21 August.

We have noted your request for receipt of the information by 4 August. If
we are able to accommodate that time frame, we will.

While the Act allows a requester to ask for a request to be processed
urgently (where they specify the reason for this), agencies are not bound
by such a request. Whether a response can be provided under urgency will
depend on various factors, including the complexity of the request, the
time required to form a response, and the workload of the agency.

If you have any questions in the meantime, we will be happy to work with
you to resolve these. We can be contacted via email at:
[1][email address].

Yours sincerely
