Auckland Council (Watercare)

Simon Kitson made this Official Information request to Auckland Council

Response to this request is long overdue. By law Auckland Council should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.

From: Simon Kitson

Dear Auckland Council,

On 24 June 2013 Watercare received a GHD report it had commissioned about the possible demolition of the Nihotupu Filtration Station, a heritage-listed decommissioned Water Treatment Plant in Woodlands Park Road, Titirangi. The plant is now derelict and there are a number of health and safety issues with regard to it, including asbestos, lead in the paint and water treatment chemicals abandoned on site. Since the site has been broken into and there doesn't appear to be any onsite security I was wondering what measures are being taken to make sure the site is indeed safe and what are the current plans with regard to its demolition.

Yours faithfully,

Simon Kitson
