Opt-Out Procedures of Religious Observance in School Assemblies
Archie Buissink made this Official Information request to Auckland Grammar
Response to this request is long overdue. By law Auckland Grammar should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Archie Buissink
Dear Auckland Grammar,
I would like to know the opt out procedure (if one exists) for students who do not wish to join in the religious observations during school assemblies, such as the Monday Bible readings, daily prayers and hymn singing under the Education Act 1989.
I would also like to know how many students have opted out of this religious observance in accordance with the Bill of Rights.
Yours faithfully,
Archie Buissink
