As part of continuing efforts to target the people who supply drugs to communities in the Eastern District, in excess of 10,000 cannabis plants have been seized and destroyed over the summer period.
They were located public and private land across the district, ranging from south of Waipukurau to the top of East Cape. There was aerial support over 10 days from a plane and a helicopter."

Good morning David
I refer to your request below dated 17 March 2017 in which you requested
- Can you please provide search warrants, evidence sheets, operation
debrief documents, photographs, helicopter and plane costing documents,
relating to this operation in Eastern District.
The purpose of this letter is to notify you that Police require an
extension of time in which to respond to your request, pursuant to section
15A(1) of the Official Information Act 1982, because the request
necessitates a search through a large quantity of information and
consultations such that a proper response to the request cannot reasonably
be made within the original time limit.
Police require until 31 May 2017 to provide a substantive response to your
request.
You have the right to complain to the Office of the Ombudsmen about this
extension.
