Police interviewing of child witnesses
Ross Francis made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police
Response to this request is long overdue. By law New Zealand Police should have responded by now (details and exceptions). The requester can complain to the Ombudsman.
From: Ross Francis
Dear New Zealand Police,
Have Police used the publication "Child Development" as a guide to how child witnesses should be interviewed? (This publication was cited by Police in its response to me dated 1 November 2016. See https://fyi.org.nz/request/4722-intervie....) If so, please provide me with an electronic copy of this publication.
What risks or potential risks have Police identified in regards to information obtained from child witnesses that have been, or are, interviewed five times?
Are Detective Inspector David Kirby and Detective Inspector Craig Scott aware of any child witnesses that were interviewed five times in 2016? If so, what was the reason for the child witness(es) to be interviewed five times?
Yours faithfully,
Ross Francis
