Dave Lane made this Official Information request to Minister of Trade
The request was partially successful.
From: Dave Lane
Dear Minister of Trade,
I would like a full record of expenditure break down of the costs incurred by your office (and those of your predecessors) and across all ministerial and departmental budgets, related to the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (and its precursors). Please split out the following:
1. ministerial travel,
2. official travel,
3. legal and policy advice,
4. analysis,
5. communications, and
6. other (providing details classifying those "other" expenses).
Please also show costs incurred both prior to and following the formal involvement of the USA.
Sincerely,
Dave Lane

Dear Liese Galvin,
Thank you for your update. I look forward with interest to a timely and complete response. I see from FYI.org.nz that the Minister's office is quite tardy on several other TPPA-related OIA requests. I trust this will not happen in the case of my request.
Yours sincerely,
Dave Lane

I don't believe that the Minister's response answers my query. He simply points me to publicly available information at https://www.dia.govt.nz/About-us-Our-Org... which provides only aggregated figures for the travel expenses of each minister. That falls far short of the level of specific information I requested, which included a breakdown of costs (not just travel-related) associated with the Minister's (and his predecessors') travel. Not good enough.
