A title list pertaining to Nga Taonga's TVNZ 20,000 digitization project (2014)

K.I. Davis made this Official Information request to Ministry for Culture and Heritage

Ministry for Culture and Heritage did not have the information requested.

From: K.I. Davis

Dear Ministry for Culture and Heritage,

As the Ministry is the prime public funder of Nga Taonga Sound & Vision (a private charitable trust) I am assuming that you have been given the list of the 20,000 TVNZ titles that Nga Taonga has or will digitise in the near future.

I am assuming Nga Taonga will have already supplied a list to the Ministry, considering that public funding was allocated over two-years ago and there is a public expectation that the Ministry will keep an eye on tax payers money.

For your reference here is a quote from the news story on the TVNZ website:
Broadcasting Minister Craig Foss says the "highest heritage value" items will be digitised and made available online free of charge. "The first clips are expected to be online before the end of the year, with about 20,000 titles made available over the next three years [that's by August 2017]," says Mr Foss. The Government has invested $24 million in the purchase, improvement and ongoing operation of the archive. (TVNZ website, 1/8/14)

Personally I am really interested in viewing online the current affairs material from the 1970s and the light entertainment shows from that period too.

Therefore I would like to request from the Ministry:

The list of 20,000 TVNZ titles that Nga Taonga has identified for digitisation (if possible, could you also include the status of each title - not digitised / digitised / freely available online)

Yours faithfully,

K.I. Davis
