Ministry for Culture and Heritage

Dear Steph

Thank you for your request of 16 November requesting the following
information.

a.       An itemised list of taonga tūturu owned by the Crown and held by
the Ministry of Culture and Heritage found in Northland;

b.      A list of any actions taken in the Māori Land Court in relation to
Northland based taonga tūturu ownership claims.

In order to respond more effectively to your request we would appreciate
clarification on the following points:

-          Is there a particular timeframe  you are interested in (in
relation to both questions)

-          What exact area are you interested in? Perhaps in terms of
Local or Regional Authority? Or otherwise?

The Ministry is able to give you a list of actions taken by the Ministry
and its Chief Executive in the Māori Land Court in relation to
Northland-based taonga tūturu.  However, The Ministry is not the most
appropriate source for a list of actions taken by parties other than the
Ministry and its Chief Executive in the Māori Land Court. We are happy to
transfer this second part to the Māori Land Court/Ministry of Justice if
you would like.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards
