Kia ora James,

I refer to your request made under the Official Information Act 1982
(OIA), dated 7 February 2023, seeking the following relating to “announced
funding of a one-off $3 million investment to support the Waitangi Treaty
Grounds”:

All correspondence including but not limited to, emails, texts and records
of phone calls relating to the funding, inclusive of when and who
requested the funding, when the funding was approved and by whom.

The OIA requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no
later than 20 working days after the day we received your request.
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to meet that time limit and we are
therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the time required to
make our decision.

This extension is needed because your request necessitates a search
through a large quantity of information and meeting the original time
limit would unreasonably interfere with the operations of this Office. As
such, a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time
limit.

You can expect to receive a response to your request by Friday, 21 April
2023. However, we will be working to respond to you as soon as
practicable.

You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of
this decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
[2]www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or free phone 0800 802 602.

If you have any queries, please feel free to contact Ministerial Services
at [3][email address] . If any additional factors come to light which are
relevant to your request, please do not hesitate to contact us so that
these can be considered.

Ngā mihi
