Nutritional Standards of In-Patient Food

John M. Wilson made this Official Information request to Ministry of Health

The request was successful.

From: John M. Wilson

Dear Ministry of Health,

It has come to my attention that children aged 14-18 years are being served four slices of white bread and two portions of margarine for the entirety of their lunch at Dunedin hospital.

Please provide details of:
- who (and what role) is responsible for approving menus (specifically including this meal offering) as being fit for these patients;
- what specific nutritional/medical advice and/or advisors are being relied upon for the decision to serve this as being nutritionally adequate;
- how frequently this meal is being served.

Yours faithfully,
John M. Wilson

Hi John,

When a request is transferred, the 20 working day timeframe starts again from the time that the request is transferred. This would mean you should be expecting a response from New Zealand Health Partnerships by 10 August. I've been in touch with them anyway and know that they are working on the response for you, so it should be with you within the timeframe.

Kind regards
Sarah
