On behalf of the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment I
acknowledge your request of 9 June 2026 sent to the The Treasury Te Tai
Ôhanga requesting under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the
following:
 

‘The total amount received by the Crown from confiscated cryptocurrency
asset sales, broken down by year from 2015 to present, where such records
exist.

 

Whether confiscated cryptocurrency assets appear on any Crown balance
sheet or asset register, and if so, how they are valued.
 

Please provide documents, records, policies or guidelines that are held
and can be released under the Act.’
 

Your request has been partially transferred, for the above, to the
Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment from The Treasury Te Tai
Ôhanga on 7 July 2026 and is being processed in accordance with the
Official Information Act 1982. A response will be sent to you in due
course.

later than 5 August 2026, being 20 working days after the day your request
