Appointment of Directors to Crown Entities - prioritisation of ethnicity

Harry Chan made this Official Information request to The Treasury

This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Harry Chan to read recent responses and update the status.

From: Harry Chan

Dear The Treasury,

I understand that Treasury appoint Directors to the Boards of some Crown owned companies. I am interested in understanding that this has been done in a way which appoints competent directors to oversee Crown assets, rather than prioritising specific ethnic groups, in particular Maori.

Please advise:
How many Directors has Treasury appointed over the past 12 months.
How many of those Directors were Maori?
How many Chairs or Deputy Chairs were appointed over the past 12 months?
How many of those Chairs/Deputy Chairs were Maori?
Please provide the criteria for assessing appropriate Director appointees.
Please advise number of times (over the last 2 years) where you have been searching specifically for Director who is Maori. What organisations were you appointing a Maori Director (as opposed to a Director who happened to be Maori)

Yours faithfully,

Harry Chan
