I would like to know the current population estimates for the 2 primary
Inflammatory Bowel Conditions, Crohn's Disease, and Ulcerative Collitis.

For each condition, how many people are estimated to have each condition
in the current NZ population?

For each condition, what are the annual costs for the most recent year
data is held, for surgical procedures to treat the underlying condtions?
eg bowel resections etc.

If available,  are there any annualised cost estimates for treatment of
each condition excluding surgical procedures?

Your request has been received and logged.  As required under the Official
Information Act 1982, the Ministry will respond to your request within 20
working days.

Please note that from 25 December until 15 January are not counted as
working days for the purposes of the Official Information Act.

You should receive a response on or before 03 February 2016

If a large amount of information has been requested or if the Ministry
needs to consult in order to make a decision, we may need to extend this
date (this is provided for in Section 15A of the Act).  We will advise you
if such an extension is necessary.
