Thank you for your Official Information Act request regarding board member payments dated Friday 8 May.
Our board members are ministry appointed through an MOE lead application process or co-opted members and none are nominated parents of Northern Health School students.

Please find our responses to your questions below:

How much board members are paid for meetings:
Board members at Northern Health School are paid a set fee for attending meetings of $360. Meetings are typically four hours in duration. Payments are made in line with a board approved process in accordance with school policy and Ministry guidelines.

Whether they can also claim expenses (travel costs, parking etc) for attending meetings:
Board members can claim reasonable expenses, such as travel, parking etc, when attending board approved meetings. These claims must be accompanied by the relevant receipts or documentation.

Any other payments they might receive:
There are no other standard payments made to board members.

How much your board members were paid (in total, not individually) last year:
Our financials show $28,338.20 paid in board meeting fees (this does not include reimbursements) however, Information relating to total board remuneration for the 2025 financial year is currently contained within the school's draft 2025 Annual Financial Statements. These statements are with the school's external auditors and have not yet been formally adopted by the Board or submitted to the Ministry of Education. The audited financial statements are due to be submitted to the Ministry of Education by 31 May 2026 and will become publicly available following completion of that process.
