Blackmail/Extorsion charges.
Aimee Cottle made this Official Information request to New Zealand Police
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Aimee Cottle to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Aimee Cottle
Dear New Zealand Police,
Are you investigating the latest behaviour conducted by Ngai Tahu regarding the Santana Goldmine?
Ngai Tahu demanded $180 million payment from the Santana Goldmine company. The company refused to meet the demand, and now Ngai Tahu is committed to shutting down the project through the courts.
Isn't this blackmail or extorsion under the New Zealand Crimes Act 1961.
If it isn't, does that mean anyone can go next door to their neighbour's house and demand the neighbour pay them $5000.00 so the neighbour can continue with their plans of erecting a garden shed? When the neighbour refuses to pay, does that mean that you are able to stop them from going ahead with their project?
Yours faithfully,
Aimee Cottle
