Dear Stephanie Mudgeway,

 

I acknowledge receipt of your Official Information Act (OIA) request dated
1 May 2026,  in which you requested the following:

 

“Copies of all communication, including emails, text messages, and written
memoranda, between the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet
(including staff in the Prime Minister’s office) and the office of the
Minister of Foreign Affairs between 28 February 2026 and the date of this
request, regarding New Zealand’s public position on the US-led military
action against Iran.

 

              This includes any communications in which a preferred
position on the airstrikes was conveyed or discussed on behalf of the
Prime Minister.”

 

We received your request on 20 May 2026 after it was transferred to our
Office from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. We will
endeavour to respond to your request as soon as possible and in any event
no later than 18 June 2026, being 20 working days after the day your
request was received. If we are unable to respond to your request by then,
we will notify you of an extension of that timeframe.
