I am writing to request information under the Official Information Act 1982 regarding the visit of the Commonwealth Secretary-General to New Zealand on 13 February 2026.
I request the following information:
1. The total cost to the New Zealand Government associated with the visit;
2. A breakdown of those costs where possible (including but not limited to hospitality, venue hire, travel within New Zealand, accommodation, security, administrative support, and event organisation);
3. The locations and venues of official meetings or events held in New Zealand as part of the visit;
4. The titles or official roles of attendees at official events associated with the visit (excluding personal names where appropriate);
5. The stated purpose of the visit, including any official objectives, agendas, or briefing materials prepared in advance.
If any part of the requested information is publicly available, please direct me to the relevant source.

In which you requested the following:
I am writing to request information under the Official Information Act

information that is identified to be of general public interest, the
response may also be published on the Department of Internal Affairs
website. If the Department publishes its response to your OIA request, all
personal information, including your name and contact details, will be

This email is to advise you that we have partially transferred parts 4 and
5 of your request to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT).
Your request has been transferred because it is more closely connected
with the functions of MFAT. In these circumstances, we are required by
section 14 of the Act to partially transfer your request.
You will hear further from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade
concerning your request, they have the usual time limits from receipt of
this transfer to make a decision on your request.

We are writing in regards to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA)
request which was partially transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original time frame
(section 15A(1)(b) of the OIA refers).

will be sent to you as soon as possible.
