Under the Official Information Act 1982, I request anonymised aggregate information relating to advanced metering infrastructure (AMI / smart meters) in New Zealand for the period 1 January 2018 to 30 September 2025.

This request follows an Official Information Act response from WorkSafe New Zealand (Ref 251316) confirming that its Electricity and Gas High-Risk Database does not provide comprehensive coverage of smart meter installations, upgrades, technology changes, or compliance outcomes. I therefore seek market-level oversight information held by the Electricity Authority in its regulatory and monitoring role under the Electricity Industry Participation Code 2010 (Part 10).

I am not seeking any personal, address-level, or ICP-specific information.

Please provide any aggregate information held by the Authority showing, to the extent recorded:

Total number of ICPs equipped with AMI/smart meters by year (2018–2025)

Aggregate breakdowns by:

Retailer or Metering Equipment Provider (MEP), where reported at aggregate level

Any available year-on-year summaries of AMI uptake or replacement activity
