Teaching Council: 21 January 5pm

There is one current vacancy in the membership of the Teaching Council of
Aotearoa New Zealand (“the Council”) due to a resignation of an appointed
member. The replacement appointment will be for a term lasting to 1 July
2028. Governance expertise and experience is required.

 

May I ask how you called for public nomination and on what platform you
have call for public nominations e.g. gazette website. A copy of your ad.
Also, how many applications you have received from the public and how many
you have received from other nominating agencies such as TPK or Ministry
of women etc for your role. How many you have shortlisted and how many you
have interviewed.

 

Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982
(the Act).

 

The call for public nominations was the Gazette Notice, which served as
the official platform for publishing the vacancy and informing the public

We are refusing the remainder of your request for the number of
applications received from the public and other nominating agencies, as
well as the number of applicants that were shortlisted and interviewed,
under section 18(a) by virtue of section 9(2)(f)(iv) of the Act, to

the confidentiality of advice tendered by Ministers of the Crown and
officials.

 

As required under section 9(1) of the Act, we have considered the public
interest in releasing the information withheld. We do not consider that
the public interest considerations favouring the release of this
information are sufficient to outweigh the need to withhold it at this
time. We note that once decisions are made, section 9(2)(f)(iv) generally
