Information relating to Election date
Aaron W made this Official Information request to Christopher Luxon
This request has an unknown status. We're waiting for Aaron W to read recent responses and update the status.
From: Aaron W
Dear Christopher Luxon,
Please provide all information relating to the setting of the 2026 election date, including discussions with coalition partners (which has been reported on so we know this information exists). I assume you will refuse parts of this request on the basis that this decision as made as National Party leader rather than Prime Minister, but I refer you to the Cabinet Manual which notes that the 'Prime Minister alone' has the power to set the election date. Therefore, it can be considered reasonable that most of the relevant material was generated in your role as Prime Minister, rather than as National Party leader.
Yours faithfully,
Aaron W
